Ulster University’s Legal Innovation Centre Enhances Student Experience through HighQ

To provide an even richer educational experience, the Legal Innovation Centre at Ulster University is now offering applied training and hands-on experience using Thomson Reuters HighQ, the modern, adaptable solution to simplify legal processes and facilitate legal project management in one place.

As Northern Ireland’s newest university, Ulster University has more than 27,000 students across four campuses, as well as a national and international reputation for excellence, innovation, and regional engagement. Its Legal Innovation Centre, first established in 2016, is a pioneering collaboration between the University’s School of Law and the School of Computing, Engineering and Intelligent Systems to promote and support innovation in legal services and access to justice. It does this through research into the application and impact of new legal technology, as well as offering opportunities for the education and training of current and future lawyers in essential legal tech skills.

By selecting and deploying HighQ, the Legal Innovation Centre is now able to offer applied training on how to use the market-leading legal technology solution for progressive students undertaking law tech modules, both as part of standalone short courses and its various cutting-edge masters degree programmes in Corporate Law, Computing and Innovation. More specifically, students will have access to a sophisticated set of interconnected legal capabilities designed to enable efficient legal workflows which are widely used throughout the legal industry to manage legal processes and facilitate collaboration.

“Our aim is to educate students to deliver holistic legal solutions for clients using the most efficient and effective technology,” said Jane Hollway, Director of the Legal Innovation Centre at Ulster University. “HighQ is one of the most widely used and powerful technology platforms within the global legal industry and providing students on our Corporate Law, Computing and Innovation programme with the opportunity to learn how to use it effectively to manage legal process and collaboration is a real practical benefit for the students and their current or future employers. See legalinnovation.ai for further details on our courses”.
