This Practice note addresses a number of frequently asked questions concerning service of the claim form within the jurisdiction arising from the procedural complexities and potential pitfalls that practitioners often encounter. It provides guidance on issues including serving an unsealed or amended claim form (including via CE-File; the consequences of issuing proceedings then not serving them; points of caution on extending the validity of a claim form by agreement; the rules for service on a defendant's solicitor and service on corporate defendants under the Companies Act 2006.
