Online Civil Money Claims Pilot under PD 51R
A practice note that explains the scope and functionality of the Online Civil Money Claims Pilot (OCMC), a scheme operating in the County Court under Practice Direction 51R (PD 51R) of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR). This practice note explains that the OCMC is for specified Part 7 money claims and outlines the conditions for its use, including who may use it (litigants in person and legally represented parties). It sets out the procedure for making and responding to a claim within the OCMC, covering key aspects such as starting a claim, service, the defendant's response, directions questionnaires, admissions, default judgment, and applications. Furthermore, this practice note addresses the potential transfer of claims out of the OCMC, the jurisdiction of legal advisers, and references further HMCTS guidance. It also highlights the evolving nature and functionality of the OCMC.
