Introducing HighQ MCP: Bring client context to your AI agents

HighQ MCP bridges the gap between your legal data and the AI tools your team already relies on — securely and instantly

Highlights

  • HighQ MCP connects AI tools to client data using Anthropic's open standard protocol.
  • Legal teams can query documents and structured matter data in natural language instantly.
  • Single secure connection replaces bespoke integrations for multiple AI tools and platforms.

For many legal teams, the relationship between their collaboration platform and their AI tools has always been a little awkward. Documents, client data and matter information sit completely outside of AI workflows, meaning when you want to ask an AI assistant a question that draws on both, you are often left manually exporting, copying, and re-uploading documents and information before you can get anywhere useful.

HighQ MCP changes that.

What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard introduced by Anthropic that gives AI systems a common, standardised way to connect to external tools and data sources. HighQ MCP uses this standard to connect third-party AI tools such as Claude, Copilot Studio, or a firm’s own in-house AI — connecting the files, documents, and structured matter data held in HighQ. That data stays exactly where it is, protected by the same security permissions and access controls managed within HighQ, while becoming available as live context inside the AI tools your teams already use.

Before MCP, connecting an AI model to a data source typically required a bespoke integration built from scratch. MCP replaces all of that with a single, consistent connection.

HighQ is now AI agent ready.

What does HighQ MCP do?

HighQ MCP is compatible with a range of AI clients, including Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Microsoft Copilot Studio. HighQ MCP connects powerful and flexible matter management, files (documents) and iSheets (structured data), to any MCP-compatible AI client via a secure, standards-based protocol. Once connected, users can hold natural language conversations directly within their preferred AI.

The possibilities are many, here are a few starters:

  • Get up to speed on any matter in minutes – Ask “summarise all documents in a specific HighQ matter folder”
  • Draft client emails and correspondence grounded in real matter data – Ask “pull the clients information from the property portfolio iSheet directly into this correspondence draft.”
  • Query your structured matter data in plain English – Ask “Which matters have deadlines in the next 14 days?”
  • Surface risks across hundreds of documents – Ask “What change-of-control clauses appear in the VDR?”
  • Run natural language searches across iSheet data and documents – Ask “please look up the associate allocated to this matter from the ongoing matters iSheet”

This read-only connection means your AI tool can retrieve and analyse HighQ content but ensures the content in HighQ remains permission controlled, and fully audit logged.

HighQ MCP grounds your AI tool outputs and workflows in your actual matters, not generic legal knowledge.

Legal work generates a significant volume of both structured and unstructured data: matter timelines, risk logs, task trackers, and contract libraries. Much of this is already held in HighQ. The challenge has rarely been a lack of data. It has been making that data accessible to the tools that can make sense of it quickly and reliably.

MCP addresses this directly. Rather than building and maintaining separate integrations for each AI tool a firm wants to use, a single MCP connection opens HighQ content to any compatible client. Firms can begin working with new AI tools against their HighQ data in days rather than months, and can extend to additional tools over time without starting from scratch.

For teams with significant iSheets usage — such as those managing M&A transactions, litigation projects, compliance reviews, or real estate portfolios — the value is particularly clear. The ability to ask natural language questions of both documents and structured data simultaneously removes a step that has historically required either manual effort or custom development.

AI-powered, informed collaboration just got easier.

HighQ MCP builds on the AI capabilities already woven into the platform through Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, which brings professional-grade AI directly into legal workflows for document review, client self-service Q&A modules, and drafting.

MCP extends this further by opening HighQ’s documents and structured data to the AI tools your teams already use, giving that knowledge a wider reach while keeping it inside the security and permissions HighQ provides.

Your matters, documents, and client data are already in HighQ. HighQ MCP puts that context to work. No new infrastructure. No bespoke builds. Just a single, secure connection that makes every AI interaction smarter, faster, and grounded in your firm’s real data.
